Scenic Pittsburgh, a project of the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC), is an affiliate of Scenic America. Scenic America is a nonprofit advocacy organization and the only national group solely dedicated to removing visual blight and preserving and enhancing the scenic character of America's communities and countryside.
Pittsburgh and the surrounding region are currently faced with a number of issues related to the construction, expansion and proliferation of billboards throughout the region including mobile advertising and electronic billboards. Scenic Pittsburgh addresses issues involving visual blight and in particular billboards by promoting a plan of action for dealing with the growing issue of billboards in the Pittsburgh area.
Scenic Pittsburgh's goal is to preserve scenic beauty in the Pittsburgh region. The Pittsburgh region, because of its topography, is rich with scenic vistas and views of both urban and country landscapes. Our region's scenic beauty is a combination of rivers, hills, and architecture that create a cultural heritage and character that is uniquely Pittsburgh.
